Plan Could Make Generic Drugs Even CheaperPOSTED: 11:18 am CDT October 13, 2006
TRENTON , N.J. -- Americans working at smaller companies that don't offer drug coverage may get a break. One of the country's largest prescription benefit management firms is coming out with a low-cost generic drug plan aimed at those companies. Medco Health Solutions said it will offer the Generics First plan through its partner health insurance firms. It will offer workers generic drugs for as little as $10 for a 90-day mail-order supply. The plan covers more than 800 medications. Medco's announcement came on the heels of Wal-Mart and Target offering 30 days' worth of generic drugs for $4 in their Florida stores.
